Supporting passage from source
Introducing and reinvesting a levy on the use of Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs) by Safeguard Mechanism facilities could increase their on-site emissions cuts, according to a study, which called for the government to look at ways to incentivise industrial decarbonisation and to enable a gradual transition to a system where the ACCU price does not set the marginal cost of abatement.
